60th Anniversary Celebration: Midwest Quarterly

Event information

October 22, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: Graduate & Continuing Studies, Room 112 Russ Hall

Event details

The Midwest Quarterly, PSU's only interdisciplinary journal, will turn 60 in October. A coffee reception celebrating this milestone is open to the public.

The journal has been continuously produced on campus since 1959. The October issue will honor Dudley Cornish, the journal's first Editor in Chief.

The 60th anniversary volume will include four issues. As it did in 1959, the journal continues to publish contributions by PSU faculty alongside contributions from all over the U.S. and the world, and contains both articles and poetry. The journal also is home to three annual awards: the James B.M. Schick PSU Graduate Best Essay Prize; the Stephen Meats Poetry Prize; and the Victor Emmett Jr. Prize — the latter of which brings a winning article author to campus each year to give a lecture. That lecture will be held this year at 8 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Governors Room, Overman Student Center.
