Workshop Description:

Open educational resources are teaching, learning and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and repurposing by others.

OER provides a tremendous cost saving opportunity by replacing traditional textbooks and costly learning resources with free or very low cost resources. In addition, these resources can be remixed and repurposed by educators to cater to their unique curriculum.

This workshop will help participants understand what OER is, where they are located, how they are implemented, how they are shared and finally how to create their own OER.

Workshop Presenter:

Rion Huffman is an Associate Professor of Graphics and Imaging Technologies at Pittsburg State University. He is the author of “Some Rights Reserved” Creative Commons (CC) in Education. He has presented nationally and regionally multiple times on the topics of Open Education Resources and Intellectual Property Rights.
